Consultations

The institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) offer interested parties from both the corporate and public sectors a wide range of one-off professional services based on their cutting-edge research and long-standing experience. These services include analyses, measurements, assessments, solution proposals, feasibility verification, and expert consultations.

These services are provided on the basis of individual agreements and are available to companies as well as public and state institutions seeking a reliable partner with access to modern laboratory facilities and expertise in various scientific fields.

The SAS Technology Transfer Office (TTO SAS):

  • will advise you on which consulting service offered by SAS organizations is best suited to your request,
  • will verify the current workload and availability of the service,
  • will put you in contact with the department of the relevant SAS organization that provides the service,
  • will remain available, if needed, to help address any questions that may arise during the provision of the service.

Research and testing of endolysins against biofilm-forming pathogens PK-22-001

Biomedicine, MedTech and Health | Biotechnologies and Microorganisms

Preparation, biochemical characterisation and testing of antimicrobial and antibiofilm activity of bacteriophage endolysins against Gram-positive pathogens (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus aureus, and others). Collaboration may include MIC/MBIC determination, biofilm eradication assays, cytotoxicity testing on cell lines and support for preclinical research.

Social data analysis for product development and sales PK-31-010

Social Sciences and Humanities

Analysis of social data to support product development and sales based on research into everyday life, lifestyles, and client practices; includes analysis of cultural symbols and representations.

Structural analysis and characterization of organic compounds PK-20-003

Analytical and Diagnostic Methods | Biomedicine, MedTech and Health

Structural elucidation for R&D laboratories in organic synthesis (namely university laboratories and clinics); applications in medical, biological, industrial, and agricultural sample analysis; useful in rare disease diagnostics and identification of methods for rare disease diagnostics.

Structural analysis of proteins and enzymes by X-ray crystallography PK-22-004

Analytical and Diagnostic Methods | Biotechnologies and Microorganisms

Determination of 3D structures of proteins and enzymes by X-ray crystallography, including ligand complexes and time-resolved measurements; identification of ligands enhancing enzyme stability and activity and structure-based support for biosensor and biocatalyst design.

Surface morphology measurement using AFM PK-05-010

Analytical and Diagnostic Methods

3D topographic imaging of materials at the nanoscale; assessment of roughness, hardness, adhesion, and other surface properties.

Surface treatment of metals by electrochemical methods PK-05-013

Energy and Environmental Technologies

Cleaning, polishing, etching, electrochemical texturing, electroplating, and corrosion protection.

Surveys of values, attitudes, and beliefs PK-31-006

Social Sciences and Humanities

Quantitative macro-surveying of values, attitudes, and beliefs according to client needs — applicable in policymaking, strengthening social cohesion, conflict prevention, marketing, etc. (e.g., World Values Survey for Slovakia).

Synthesis of target compounds in biocatalysis and organic synthesis PK-20-009

Chemistry and Chemical Processes

Custom synthesis of chiral esters, alcohols, glycosides, carbohydrates, and enzyme substrates.

Testing of the effects of pharmaceuticals and biomaterials PK-19-005

Biomedicine, MedTech and Health

Testing the effects of pharmaceuticals and biomaterials on angiogenesis, gene expression, tumor and microbial diseases using the chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model.

Equipment: incubators, digital macro-photography setup, PCR, rotary microtome

Trace element analysis (Zn, Mn, Fe, Cu) in biological material PK-19-007

Analytical and Diagnostic Methods | Biomedicine, MedTech and Health

Sample processing of biological materials — primarily blood or other biological samples — using wet mineralization, followed by trace element analysis via atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS).
