Antimicrobial properties of honeybee royal jelly

Chemistry and Chemical Processes

Research of antimicrobial compounds present in honeybee larval food royal jelly (RJ) and their role in larvae protection against American foulbrood with potential application at increasing resistance of bee colonies against the disease. Collaboration may involve the testing of antimicrobial efficacies of various compounds in vitro as well as in vivo testing of antibacterial protection effect of RJs obtained from bee colonies in exposure bioassays performed with laboratory reared honeybee larvae.
